Its Friday! Today's Fancy Friday inspired by the lovely Hannah Ulrich (follow @hannah_may on instagram) who suggested a watermelon post. Watermelon is pure summer – I love it. Relish in these last few weeks of summer folks, and make sure you pick up another melon before the season is done! You can download this desktop background right here.

Today's Fancy Friday inspired by the many airplanes that have been flying over our house due to the large Abbotsford Air Show, our general love of travel, and Tylor's passion for airplanes and aviation. Anybody else attending the Abbotsford Air Show this weekend? Maybe we'll see you there tomorrow. You can download this desktop background for yourself by clicking right here. Friday. How sweet it is. Today's Fancy Friday is inspired by the launch of the new Tirz Bakeshop branding – and because staring at lovely photos of sweets all month have me craving a cupcake somethin' fierce. You can sweeten your day by downloading this wallpaper for your computer right here :) This is my first summer living in British Columbia. I can't even get over how much I am enjoying it. I love how most of the foods we buy, come from a farm within just a few kilometres of where we live. I especially love the abundance of summer berries. We've been spending quite a few sunny afternoons at are newly beloved Krause Berry Farms picking, eating and learning about berries. It is amazing. Nothing beats a fresh berry dessert in the summer, and to avoid having the oven on, I opened up a favourite cook book for inspiration and served our weekend guests a simple custard with fresh berries. You should probably make some too – recipe below.
I doodle – a lot. I go through ridiculous amounts of black felt pens and coiled sketch books. I love the way ink looks on paper, and how the curls of an uppercase "K" can go so many different ways. I am a believer in the lost art of hand-lettering. I just love it. Sometimes I doodle strange things, and the odd time it makes sense. I've learned so much in the last few years. Tylor (my husband) and I strive to Live Simply – think more about what we're purchasing and where it comes from, Eat Well – think more about what our bodies need and where our food comes from, and Be Kind – that's kind of a given, even though it can be tough sometimes :) Spice up your computer desktop with this little number – download right here.
Summer is officially here, and if you live in B.C. you will be enjoying some blissful hot, rainless, blue sky days. Ice cream is one of my favourite treats for any time, but it tastes even better enjoyed outside in the sun – pure summer. One of our favourite places to get a cool cone is at Edaleen Dairy, just a quick zip over the border into Washington you can enjoy two scoops for $1.89. You also can't go wrong visiting La Casa Gelato in Vancouver – over 218 flavours – including oddities like blue cheese, fennel and malt vinegar. If you're Alberta folk, make sure you indulge at Village Ice Cream in Calgary – probably the best cone I've ever had. Their salted caramel makes me weak in the knees, and their coffee ice cream uses Phil and Sebastian beans and brew – win. For the Reddeerians out there, be sure to track down Peppermint Andy's Ice Cream Wagon this summer. The wagon is often parked at the Wednesday Downtown Market and Food Truck Fridays, located at Cool Beans Bus. What is YOUR favourite summer ice cream spot? You can download this summery ice cream desktop wallpaper here. Clam chowder delicious. It is rich, creamy and full of chewy sea clams. If you're familiar with Seattle, you've likely heard of or dined at Duke's Chowder House. Tylor and I enjoy chowder with an ocean view at their West Seattle location every chance we get. It is... ridiculously good. In attempt to satisfy our need for their legendary clam chowder, we decided to attempt to make a big steamy pot at home. It turned out well and even though we're lacking the ocean view, I'm as happy as a clam. Scroll down for the recipe :)
I am married to a fellow who loves the outdoors. He thinks, and breathes all things adventuresome and wilderness filled. Camping is one of his favourite activities... ever. He is rather particular when it comes to packing things that work well to ensure the ultimate enjoyable experience in the wilderness. Tylor has helped me compile a list of his top camping essentials. Some are still on his wish-list, but most we have tried and love. Ladies, if you are with an adventurous man, here are some great gift ideas, for real. 1. Usually the official kick-off of the camping season and much loved farmers markets. We will be out of the office tomorrow. What are you doing this weekend? I hope you take time to get outside, get some sun and maybe even hit the road to explore some place new. This week's Fancy Friday is inspired by my ongoing love for retro Volkswagen vans. I'm the girl who jumps and claps in her seat every time I see one on the road. There are quite a few where we live and I'd love to join the club one day :) Enjoy your long weekend! You can download this VW van pattern right here to fancy up your desktop.
